In the first iteration of an all-school design charette, the Undergraduate and Graduate Departments of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Architecture History, and Urban and Environmental Planning participated in the Belmont Bridge Vortex. Led by architect, Eduardo Arroyo, the over four hundred students in the School of Architecture were divided into thirty vertically structured teams to compete in the redesign of the Belmont Bridge and surrounding properties. in Charlottesville, Virginia. Team's design proposal, the Belmont PARKway, received the Students' Award, an honor voted on by the entire student body.
